Qualification personnel

Home \ About \ Qualification personnel

A modern airliner pilot must have so many skills and knowledge that only their enumeration makes up a hundred pages document.

On May 29, 2013, President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on the establishment of the honorary title of “Tereggi” of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The employees of our company Salim Guliyev and Irina Bagirova, the only female helicopter pilot in Azerbaijan were honored with this high distinction. Thereby, the country noted the huge contribution made by these people in the creation and development of civil aviation of Azerbaijan.

It is really hard to overestimate how difficult it is to weigh the enormous experience and skills of the pilots in this class, who have lived through almost four decades of aviation development –  ultramodern “Sikorsky” and “Agusta Westland.” It is right to say about such people that “they can fly on everything that flies, and even on everything that cannot fly.” This is the highest level, which, unfortunately, is rarely achieved, because a unique combination of knowledge and “flight” character, multiplied by the aviators’ talent is observed in this case.

However when it comes to media training the talent is a factor which is calculated with difficulty and usually taken out of the brackets. In this case the requirements for pilots, dispatchers, and technical workers contained in the very prosaic documents i.e. international regulations, manuals and instructions are usually referred to. These requirements are very high, but they are justifiably high. After all, irrespective of any advanced technology used in the development of new, improved and safe aircraft, ultimately only a well-trained pilot will remain the guarantor of the security of the flight.

In order to increase the level of professionalism of both technical and flight crews the special courses in their respective fields are organized periodically at the facilities of LLC «ASG Helicopter Services» or at the Center of in-service training which functions under the National Aviation Academy, as well as in such countries as the U.S., France, Britain, Germany, Canada, Italy, Malaysia, Lithuania and other countries.

The National Aviation Center was created under the State Concern of “Azerbaijan Airlines” in 1992, by Decree # 337 of the Cabinet of Ministers. Two years later it became the National Aviation Academy of Azerbaijan Republic. And after eighteen years, on May 30, 2012, the Academy was granted the status of a regional training center of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) on “Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Air.” It should be noted that a few months earlier, in January 2012 by decision of the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) the Academy was adopted in the network of education organizations of ECAC.

Now the National Aviation Academy is included in the register of higher education institutions of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), and it is an associate member of the Coordinating Council of the Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC) and the Council of teaching and methodological union of universities specialized in education in the field of civil aviation. The Academy has been accredited by the Ministry of Education of the Azerbaijan Republic, and has been certified by IAC and the Civil Aviation Administration of Azerbaijan, which gives it the right to conduct training of aviation specialists.

More than 300 courses in which 4,000 to 7,000 students on average pass training, retraining and in-service training are organized annually in the center of aviation crew training. Over 350 teachers, including 3 academicians and 3 members of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, more than 30 doctors and 100 candidates of sciences are involved in organizing and conducting educational process. The National Aviation Academy of Azerbaijan is led by Professor Arif Mir Jalal Pashayev, academician, vice – president of the International Academy of Engineering and president of the Azerbaijan Academy of Engineering, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences.

The training center entitled as AZAL Training, which has a modern training facility for undertaking various kinds of training and development of aircraft crew members and ground staff was opened in 2010 under the Academy. It is equipped with a synthetic flight simulator (FFS – Full Flight Simulator) of Airbus aircrafts of A320/A319 family, and Boeing-757/767, ATR-42/72, IL-76 aircrafts. Currently the FFS A320/319, Boeing 757/767, ATR 42/72  flight simulators are the most advanced in their class and correspond to the level D – the highest level of international certification of flight simulators.

The trends of development of the world aviation are clear: the need for air transportation will grow from year to year.

In accordance with this it is necessary to expand the training of aviation professionals and primarily the pilots.
