At the initiative of the State Fire Supervision Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) and organized by “ASG Helicopter Services” LLC, an event on the topic “Fire Safety in Transport and Passenger Transportation” was held at the territory of Zabrat Airport.
Representatives of the MES State Fire Supervision Service, the State Fire Protection Service, as well as flight and technical personnel operating the vehicles of “ASG Helicopter Services” LLC, including maintenance and repair, administrative, and security staff, took part in the event.
During the event, speakers emphasized the importance of ensuring fire safety in vehicles, especially in passenger and cargo transportation, as well as in vehicle parking areas (hangars), and in administrative and technical service areas operating within the airport territory, including fuel tanks. It was noted that possible fires in air transport vehicles, their maintenance workshops, and hangars pose a serious threat to human life and health, and that strengthening preventive measures by the operating company in this field is of particular importance.
The importance of raising awareness among flight crews, technical and ground personnel regarding fire safety rules was highlighted, along with ensuring the technical serviceability of vehicles and their periodic maintenance; keeping primary fire-fighting equipment and automatic fire extinguishing systems installed by manufacturers in vehicles in constant working condition; keeping fuel systems and engine compartments free from flammable fuel and lubricating materials; operating electrical installations, especially technical lighting complexes, in accordance with the requirements of the Rules for Electrical Installations; conducting periodic maintenance and inspections of these areas; the responsibility of operators in this regard; and maintaining passenger safety as a top priority.
Afterwards, the practical part of the event commenced. During the practical exercise, following the activation of the “Alarm” signal in a simulated fire scenario, a vehicle in the airport hangar area where a “fire” had occurred was removed using a rigid tow in accordance with procedures, preventing the spread of the “fire” to surrounding areas. Firefighting units promptly arrived at the scene and began fire suppression activities.
At the conclusion of the successfully completed event, participants were provided with fire safety rules and methodological recommendations on fire safety in parking areas, hangars, and garages.
